42% of theSub-Saharan Africa population lives on less than $1.90 (US) per day.
1 child out of every 36 births die in the first month in poorer areas like Sub-Saharan Africa. In some African communities, parents will not name their child until he/she survives the first year!
Additionally, most under-five mortalities in these areas are as a result of preventable diseases such as diarrhea, malaria, pneumonia, etc.
The most common problems include malnutrition, poor hygiene, contaminated water, and lack of proper sanitation, but WE can help!
You and I can make a difference in our own little way
As gloomy and overwhelming as these statistics can be, they are still an improvement from what we used to have.
In the 1990 edition of UNICEF Report, as much as 93 out of every 1000 children died in the first months in poorer areas of the world. Although the still tragic 2017 figure seemed an improvement, compared to the 1 out of 333 births in high-income countries, there’s clearly a lot that still needs to be done.
Most of the children in these areas start the early stage of their lives battling various problems and enormous life-threatening challenges.Credible data and statistics from the WorldBank revealed that half of the world’s population of people living in extreme poverty are children. Additionally, 75% of these children are living in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia.
Stunted growth does affect cognitive ability and for the portion of children in school, it becomes even more difficult to cope and excel. Talking of school children, as much as 63 million children were not attending school as of 2016 around the world.
But;
Our Amigos community came into existence to rally the privileged ones to contribute to bettering the lots of people in some of the most vulnerable areas across the world.
With the help of caring hearts around the world, we have been able to take collective actions through our sponsorship programs, that have brought smiles and relief to the poor and needy in the remotest corners of the world.
Most of our efforts at the moment are directed at fighting hunger, drilling wells, and sponsoring orphaned children in Uganda and Guatemala.
From a wider perspective, 1 in every 3 of these children is likely to experience stunted growth as a result of hunger and malnutrition, most commonly; the lack of enough vitamins in their limited available diet.
We are appealing to individuals and organizations everywhere around the world to help as we collectively take actions to bring succor and relief to young children whose future are seriously at stake here.
Let’s make the world a better place!
According to Data from the World Health Organization , rural families are three times as likely to walk very far distance in search for water. Women and children in Africa average 3.785 miles a day carrying 5 gallons of water! That’s 41.75 lbs. of water EVERY DAY!
In these places, most of this burden falls on younger members of the family, especially girls, who oftentimes end up missing school along with being exposed to assaults on their long daily journeys.
That is why we are trying to bring safer water to the people in these communities and to help them get better nutrition.
Every single child deserves a proper education. We are always working to reduce the number of disadvantaged children in these communities, and that’s why we try to sponsor as much orphaned children as we can.
We anticipate your financial and moral assistance as we strive to reach out to more children and people in Uganda, Guatemala, and some of these other vulnerable communities across the world.
This is our collective social responsibility and it’s the least we can do as humans. Every donation made to Amigos will make a difference. Remember, although we make a living by what we get, we only get to make a life by what we give.
Do your best, give your best!
