I have the advantage of a perspective that only age can give. I am 87 years old and now have the privilege of looking back across my life to see how God led me in paths I did not choose. I did not choose them because I did not know they existed. Throughout my life I have experienced the orchestrations of God.

Oh, not the one with millions of dollars, but the one with millions of blessings! When I asked Jesus to forgive my sins and to save my soul, I really hit the jackpot! Until then, I was a mess! My family life included three divorces, living in three states, five cities, and that was all before I finished my fourteenth year of life. Like an old slot machine, my wheels were spinning!

I conducted a "Graduation Service" for a former member of the church we established back in 2003. While some might label it as a funeral, he envisioned it as a celebration! We both shared French names and jovially jested about our ancestral roots. I shared that my ancestors settled in New Orleans, embracing the Louisiana French culture known as Cajuns. In return, he disclosed that his French family migrated via Canada and were referred to as "Canucs". I playfully suggested that had his family not missed the boat, they could have become "Cajuns" as well.

It has been a heavy time of counseling (some of the folks with problems and broken hearts live over 100 miles away, and I had to travel to them), and dealing with grieving friends and families of those for whom I did funerals. Death is the final event of life on earth, but it is the event from which people begin to evaluate a person’s legacy. The legacy to which I am referring is their influence on those left behind and the results of their walk with Jesus, not their physical wealth or possessions.

The Peoples Republic of Korea had experienced a terrible natural disaster in 1997. It not only destroyed the crops, but destroyed the fields as well. It even destroyed many kilometers of seawall, where land had been reclaimed from the sea for farming. Hunger was everywhere! I visited an elementary school.

Recently, a woman in the menopause stage of life jokingly told me, ”I know God must be a man. If God was a woman, she wouldn’t be doing this to us!” I laughed at her humor, but it got me to thinking about the many times I have worked disasters and had people ask me,“Why did God do this?”, or “why did God let this happen?”, or “Where was God when this happened?”

I recently led a conference for the men of First Baptist Church of Arcadia in Santa Fe, Texas. The purpose was not to help men be just nice men ,but to be MEN! Aggressive, militant men who defend our faith in God in the public places where our culture is trying to remove Him. It was to help them see that the Bible has instructions for every area of a man’s life.

When I asked Jesus to forgive my sins, as a sixteen-year-old young man, I had no idea or concept of the kingdom Citizenship I had acquired! When I prayed, confessed, and repented of my sins, I was aware of the sacrifice which gave me that privilege. I had been so burdened by guilt that it felt like I had dropped a pack off my shoulders when I prayed! Since then I have been amassing an ever-increasing understanding of my blessings. Sixty-eight years later, as I inventory the massive mountain of blessings, here are a few:
