Sponsorship Stories

Before Amigos Internacionales came into my life, I was a young boy struggling with disability and the harsh realities of life in my village. I used to be sent back home from school frequently due to unpaid fees. The constant disruptions made it hard for me to keep up with my studies, and I felt my dreams slipping away. I remember feeling hopeless and lost.

In 2023, everything changed. Amigos Internacionales began sponsoring my education. No longer was I sent home for unpaid school fees. My school experience transformed completely. I could now focus on my studies without any worries. Not only did this improve my academic performance, but it also instilled in me a newfound confidence.

But the support from Amigos Internacionales extended beyond just my schooling. They gave me hope for a better future. They made me believe in myself and my abilities. I felt valued and cared for. I was no longer just a disabled boy from a small village; I was now a sponsored child with dreams and aspirations.

I will never forget the day when the staff from Amigos Internacionales came to my school. They brought with them all the scholastic materials I needed - books, pens, printing papers, a mathematical set. I felt a surge of happiness and pride as they handed these to me. It was a moment that truly encapsulated the impact of being a sponsored child.

Today, I look towards the future with optimism. With the continued support from Amigos Internacionales, I feel certain that I can achieve my dream of becoming a doctor. I see a future where I am not defined by my disability or my past struggles, but by my achievements and my contributions to society.

Being a sponsored child has changed my life in ways I could never have imagined. It has given me hope, confidence, and a sense of purpose. I am grateful to Amigos Internacionales for believing in me and for giving me the opportunity to dream. And as I move forward, I carry with me the lessons I've learned and the experiences I've gained, ready to face whatever comes my way.

Growing up in a humble family in Africa, life was not a bed of roses for me. My name is Rubangakene Daniel, and I spent my early years in the shadow of uncertainty, struggling to fit in among my peers. The constant fear of being sent home due to unpaid school fees was a heavy burden that cast a long shadow over my childhood. My parents did their best, but their efforts were often not enough.

Despite the challenges, I had dreams. Dreams of learning, of becoming someone significant, of making a difference. But these dreams seemed distant and unattainable, like stars twinkling mockingly from a far-off galaxy.  Then, everything changed. I was introduced to Amigos Internacionales, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping vulnerable children like me. They sponsored my education, and with that, they handed me the key to unlock my potential. The shackles of financial constraints were broken, and I could soar.

The impact was immediate and transformative. I no longer had to worry about being sent home from school. I could now sit in class, not as an outsider but as an equal. I was no longer the shy boy who knew less than his peers. I was just a student eager to learn and grow.  With every passing day, my love for studies grew. I was no longer learning out of compulsion but out of desire. I became self-controlled, disciplined, and focused. My teachers noticed the change and started involving me in various activities at school. I was no longer the shy boy in the corner; I was now a confident participant, eager to contribute and make a difference.

My academic performance skyrocketed. I went from being just another student to one of the top performers in my class. I started seeing my dreams, once distant and unattainable, becoming a reality. I could see myself becoming a lawyer, standing up for justice, and making a difference in society.

Being a sponsored child is not just about having your school fees paid. It's about being given an opportunity to dream, to aspire, and to achieve. It's about breaking free from the chains of poverty and stepping into a world of endless possibilities. But most importantly, it's about knowing that there are people out there who believe in you, who are willing to invest in your future, and who want to see you succeed. To the people who sponsor and support Amigos Internacionales, I want to say thank you. Thank you for believing in me, for investing in my future, and for giving me the opportunity to dream. Your support has not just changed my life; it has given me a life. A life full of hope, dreams, and endless possibilities.

Nervous and excited, I stood before the guests, my heart pounding in my chest. I started strong but midway through, I forgot the lines. I felt a wave of embarrassment wash over me. I could focus on my studies without the fear of being sent home due to unpaid fees. Aloya Brenda

In the heart of Uganda, I, Aloyo Brenda, was just another child in a sea of faces, struggling to keep my head above water. Life was a constant uphill battle. With no money for school fees or scholastic materials, my education was constantly interrupted. I was sent back home more times than I could count, and my academic performance suffered greatly. My dreams of a brighter future seemed like distant stars, unreachable and unattainable.

But then, a beacon of light shone through my darkness. Amigos Internacionales, a non-profit organization, took me under their wing. They sponsored my education, giving me the opportunity to not only dream but to chase after those dreams with all I had. For the first time in my life, I stepped into a boarding school, a place where my education wouldn't be interrupted by the lack of funds.

The transformation was nothing short of miraculous. I was no longer a day scholar, rushing to school and arriving late. I had a place to stay, a place to call home. My school fees were fully paid every term, and scholastic materials were no longer a luxury but a given. My academic performance improved drastically, and with it, my confidence soared. I was finally on a level playing field with my peers, and I was thriving.

More than just my academics, being in a boarding school reshaped my personal life. It taught me discipline and organization. It polished my English, a language that is now my ticket to better opportunities. But most importantly, it made me happy. I was no longer the girl who was always sent back home. I was a student, a learner, a dreamer.

With the support from Amigos Internacionales, my dreams began to take shape. I saw myself as a lawyer, fighting for justice and making a difference in society. I saw myself building a house for my grandmother, a token of my gratitude for her unwavering love and support. I saw myself as more than just Aloyo Brenda, the girl with no school fees. I was Aloyo Brenda, the future lawyer, the loving granddaughter, the grateful beneficiary of Amigos Internacionales.

Being a sponsored child by Amigos Internacionales means more than just having my school fees paid. It means being seen, being recognized, and being given a chance. It means feeling lucky, favored by God, and indebted to a group of people I've never met but who have changed my life in ways they might never fully comprehend.

I am a testament to the transformative power of education and the generosity of strangers. I am a living proof that every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves a chance to dream and to reach for those dreams. I am Aloyo Brenda, and thanks to Amigos Internacionales, I am on my way to becoming so much more.

My name is Atimango Priska Faith. I remember a time when I was not a happy child. My parents were unable to afford my school fees, and I was often sent back home from the poor government school I attended. The future looked bleak, and my dreams felt unreachable.

Then, everything changed when I was sponsored by Amigos Internacionales. I felt an overwhelming sense of relief, luck, and hope for a successful future. I was over the moon. It was as if a door had opened, leading me to a path I had only dreamed of walking.

Amigos Internacionales did more than just pay my school fees. They took me out of a struggling government school and placed me in a well-established private school. For the first time, I didn't have to worry about being sent home because of unpaid fees. I could focus on my studies, on learning, and on building a foundation for my future.

Since the sponsorship began, I have achieved things I once thought impossible. I completed primary school and moved onto secondary school, a milestone that seemed unattainable without their support. The sponsorship didn't just change my educational path; it changed my life.

I now feel peace, joy, and happiness. I am hopeful and positive about achieving my dreams. I want to be a lawyer, and with the support of Amigos Internacionales, this dream feels within my reach.

Lamaro Mercy

My name is Lamaro Mercy, and I am a living testament to the transformative power of education and the kindness of strangers. I was once a child with little hope for the future, my days filled with chores and the uncertainty of whether I would be able to attend school. My parents struggled to pay for our education, and it wasn't unusual for my siblings and me to be sent home due to unpaid fees.

Then, Amigos Internacionales came into my life. Their mission to help vulnerable children in Africa resonated with my reality. I was one of those children, eager to learn but hindered by circumstances beyond my control. They saw my potential and decided to sponsor my education.

The day I became a sponsored child was the beginning of a new chapter in my life. A chapter filled with hope, dreams, and opportunities. I no longer had to worry about being sent home from school because of unpaid fees. Instead, I focused on my studies, and the results were immediate. I excelled in my classes, and for the first time, I dared to dream of a brighter future.

But the impact of Amigos Internacionales didn't stop at my education. The ripple effect of their support extended to my family and community. Tensions eased at home as my parents no longer had to bear the burden of my school fees. Unity replaced strife, and my siblings looked forward to their turn to benefit from this sponsorship.

My community, too, felt the impact. The value of education, once overlooked, became a beacon of hope for a better future. Parents started to see the possibilities that could come from a good education, and children yearned to be in my shoes.

One of the most significant moments of realization for me was seeing my classmates being sent home for unpaid fees, and I remained. It was a stark reminder of the opportunity I had been given and the responsibility I carried to make the most of it.

Amigos Internacionales did more than just pay my school fees. They built a church in my community, providing a spiritual haven where I could worship and grow in my faith. They were shaping me not just academically but spiritually and financially, too.

I am grateful to Amigos Internacionales for their unwavering support and belief in me. They have not only changed my life but also the lives of those around me. Their sponsorship is more than just financial aid; it's a lifeline, a beacon of hope, and a catalyst for change. Long live Amigos Internacionales!

Monica's Picture

Atim Monica Emmanuella

My name is Atim Monica Emmanuella, a young girl from Africa whose life was transformed by the generosity of strangers. Before I became a sponsored child, my life was filled with uncertainty and hardship. Hunger gnawed at me as I sat in school, my mind unable to focus on the lessons being taught. My mother, despite her best efforts, could not afford to pay for my school meals or tuition fees. More often than not, I was sent back home because of unpaid fees.

Then, everything changed. I was introduced to Amigos Internacionales through a trainer who used to take me along for Sinovuyo training. This was the turning point in my life. The sponsorship from this non-profit organization brought rays of hope into my bleak existence. Suddenly, I was no longer just a poor girl struggling to get an education. I was a sponsored child, blessed with the opportunity to learn and grow without the burden of financial constraints.

The transformation in my life has been profound. No longer do I worry about the lack of books or school uniforms. No longer do I fear being sent home because of unpaid fees. The sponsorship covers all these expenses, providing me with books, pencils, rubbers, colour pencils, school uniform, and even toilet tissues.

But the impact of the sponsorship goes beyond just material needs. It has given me the freedom to focus on my education, to immerse myself in learning without the constant worry of financial burdens. This has significantly improved my performance in school. I am no longer a distracted, hungry child in class. Instead, I am a motivated student, eager to learn and excel in my studies.

Being a sponsored child has also influenced my aspirations for the future. I have seen the power of education and the doors it can open. I now dream of a future where I can use my education to make a difference, just like how Amigos Internacionales has made a difference in my life.

To my sponsors, I am eternally grateful for your generosity. Your support has not just changed my life; it has given me hope for a brighter future. I pray that you continue to sponsor my education and touch the lives of more children like me.

To my fellow children who are facing similar challenges, I want to say - don't lose hope. Keep praying, stay hopeful, and trust in God. There are kind-hearted people in this world who are willing to help. Just like how my life was transformed, I believe yours can be too.
