A Life Before: Struggle and Disarray
Betty lived a life marked by alcoholism and strife. Known for her quarrelsomeness and reliance on local witch doctors for guidance, she brewed alcohol and indulged in it heavily, leading a life far from peace. Her existence was entrenched in the practices that pulled her further from the tranquility she unknowingly sought.
The Role of Amigos Internacionales
The pivotal change came when Amigos Internacionales through their Missionpoint initiative, decided to plant Odube Baptist Church in Betty’s village. This new church brought not only a place of worship but a beacon of hope and a community of support. It was here that Betty encountered the transformative power of Jesus, whose teachings about forgiveness, peace, and redemption resonated deeply with her.
Embracing Faith, Embracing Change
Upon deciding to get saved, Betty experienced a remarkable transformation. Jesus' influence through her newfound faith was immediate and profound. She turned away from her old habits—she stopped brewing and consuming alcohol and instead, turned her energies towards constructive community involvement. Appointed as the church treasurer, Betty became a steward of the church’s finances, a role that symbolized her restored trustworthiness and commitment.

With her faith as her guide, Betty not only improved her spiritual health but also her economic stability. The skills and ethical saving practices she adopted led her to start her own business, further proving the sustainable impact of Amigos Internacionales' efforts.
