In a world where inequality and poverty are ever-present, it makes so much sense and a whole world of difference to help others if you are privileged.
They say the God loves a cheerful giver and that is perhaps the first benefit you stand to receive when you lend a helping hand to those in need. But even beyond the spiritual benefits, there seems to be a lot of other benefits for those helping to make the world a better place.
Let’s briefly discuss some of these below.
For some of us, it just feels good to see others smile
Remember the old adage about giving being better than receiving? It probably is true to a large extent. The knowledge that you’re contributing to a cause that truly helps others comes with a sense of gratification. For most of us, this boosts our mood and makes us feel good.
Science has also provided evidence to back this up.
There has been several research and studies linking the process of donating to a charity and the portion of the brain that registers pleasure. It seems the activity here usually gets enhanced during these times.
We make an impact and strengthen our values
As much as the challenges may seem, a dollar from many people at the end of the day can achieve so much beyond our imagination.
Giving to a noble cause means you’re making your own mark on humanity. It means you’re making an impact in the lives of people even with the little you’ve done. For some of us, it reinforces our personal value and strengthens our sense of social responsibility.
It’s a great way to teach generosity to your kids !
You can start charity donation with your children. You can have something like a charity box where every member of the family can contribute. Introducing your children to good things like this will go a long way to nurture their innate generosity.
Naturally, children love to help others. By instilling a giving habit into them early on, they’d grow up appreciating what they have and won’t find it difficult to help when they can.
By giving, you’re encouraging others to give!
Maybe you haven’t thought about it, but your own donation to a charity may spur your family and friends to as well, do the same.
We have seen cases where a single donation by an individual resulted in a family-wide charity contribution. Situations like these bring about the possibility of making much more impact. For the family as well, bonding is usually more strengthened.
Finally…
There is also that assurance that the day will come when we’ll account for our time here on earth. No one has ever become poor by giving, and God himself lifts us up when we help others. If you’d like to contribute to a worthy cause, we’d appreciate your donations to our Amigos charity platform. We have touched lives in countless countries around the world including the USA.
Our efforts at Amigos, at the moment, are focused on fighting hunger, drilling wells for clean water, and sponsoring orphans in Uganda and Guatemala. With your help and with God, we can restore hope to where it seems none is left.
Every dollar counts and will go a long way. It’s not actually how much we give that matters, it’s more of how much love we put into giving it.
