Our Doctors Are on the Ground.
Amigos physicians, surgeons and nurses serve free of charge in Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania and eastern Congo. Right now, our medical team is on the front lines of the Ebola response.
Medical care that reaches people where they are
Amigos works with volunteer physicians, surgeons, nurses and local medical partners. Together they provide care free of charge in communities where distance and cost put treatment out of reach.

Surgery, and staying with the child afterward
Bethel Smile connects children in Uganda with specialized cleft surgery. The pathway includes community identification, verified patient documentation, help with transportation, and surgery when medically appropriate.
Follow-up covers healing, feeding and nutrition. A successful operation matters. Staying with the child afterward matters, too.
In Napak, in Uganda’s Karamoja region, a 2026 children’s outreach brought surgery, general care, dental services, eye care and follow-up support to thousands.

Doctors, nurses and local health workers, side by side
Camps are organized with volunteer doctors, nurses, local health workers and community leaders. Services vary by camp. They may include health screening, maternal and child care, dental services, eye care, preventive education and referral for advanced treatment.
Eye care can restore independence. For a patient with cataracts, it can mean returning to work and family life.
Next is the Shiloh Sight eye camp at Anaka General Hospital in Uganda, in October 2026.
Every patient documented from the moment they arrive
Medical missions need more than doctors. They need a system. Led by Dr. Paul Mulyamboga, Amigos is implementing HMS to organize care and record what happens at every step.
Why it matters: better information supports better care, stronger operations and more accountable reporting.

Registration
Each patient is registered when they arrive.
Triage
Teams sort urgent needs from routine care.
Treatment
General care, dental care and eye care.
Surgery
Surgical teams operate when medically appropriate.
Pharmacy
Medications are dispensed and tracked.
Reporting
Field data supports accountable reporting.

Care that stays after the visiting team leaves
Dr. Paul Mulyamboga, Director of Medical Services, leads Amigos medical work with local doctors and partners who remain in their communities.
Care is offered with dignity and compassion. Prayer and pastoral support may be available alongside clinical services. Treatment is never conditioned on religious participation.
On the front lines of the Ebola response
Amigos Internacionales and Doctors on Mission International are helping local teams reach isolated communities, trace contacts, support isolation and treatment, and protect the people delivering care.
Field reports come directly from Dr. Paul Mulyamboga. We share what is verified and name what field teams need.
